Millet, AB – The Millet Lions Cub are moving forward with the launch of a new website to promote their new campground located north of the Millet Recreation Centre. “We have been developing our new campground since 2014,” stated club member Wayne Smith, “we currently have 32 powered campsites, firewood on site, picnic tables and fire pits.” Future improvements planned include landscaping campsites with more trees, the addition of a shower facility and moving the dump station to the campgrounds from it current location.
For years the Millet Lion’s Club had a campground located along the banks of the Pipestone Creek, but real estate development forced the service group to close the site. The new campground is on land leased from the Town of Millet for a period of twenty five years. It is on 15 acres surrounded by a dense tree belt.
“Our current marketing strategy is to use social media along with a strong online presence, “advise webmaster Brian Hahn, “Facebook, Twitter and our website will form the foundation of our public awareness campaigns.”
The website can be found at www.milletlionscampground.com. “The club also acquired the domain www.lionscampground.ca” stated Hahn, “we will be developing a national directory of all Lions Club Campgrounds in Canada.”
A non-profit service organization, the Millet Lion’s Club raise funds for several charities through volunteerism and the website is no exception. “The costs for the website will of offset by proving online web advertising to feature local businesses.” advised Hahn.
“It is hoped that the website will allow campers, groups and event organizers a quick and easy method to reserve campsites.” stated Hahn. The website will launch with online booking through a detailed form. Future improvements will include a selection booking system and online payment processing.
Accessed from 45 Avenue (highway 616), and 54 Street, the campground is also offering RV storage. For more information you can contact the Campground Manager at 780-387-4620.
